Snakes, Big snakes, Bull Snakes
Hello! How are you doing? Hope you are having a good day!
Yesterday was an exciting day! I got up and fixed breakfast. We love breakfast!
After breakfast, I went outside and turned our dog, Stampey out. We headed to the barn to feed horses. I put feed in my buckets, fed 2 horses. I got my last bucket to feed for Ms. Trouble, she wouldn’t go in her stall. That is very unusual. My babies love to eat! I knew something was wrong. That meant we were not alone in the barn. Oh no!!
I stopped in my tracks and started going backwards looking everywhere. Oh my goodness!! Snakes!! There was snakes in the rafters!! I was back tracking my way out the door. No, no, no!! My heartbeat was beating fast! I was just a yard from them. The ceiling is not very tall.
What to do? This is definitely a new experience. I fed Ms. Trouble outside.
I went back in to see what kind of snakes they were. I really did not want to. Their tails were pointed that’s good. They are not rattlesnakes. Whew!!
They are bull snakes, big bull snakes!! They are non poisonous snakes. Bull snakes resemble rattlesnakes in color, can hiss like a rattlesnake rattling his tail, and has a appetite for rodents.
I would have died, if they had fallen on me! lol!! I realized it’s mating season that’s why the snakes are ignoring me. Yea!!
I have never seen this before. I’m like, what I am going to do with these snakes. They got to go!
I went back to the house, to do some thinking. I knew if I bothered them, at least one would fall down. Then I would be in a pickle.
I called my brothers. Jason is in Michigan. Cal is in Odessa. Their advice was to either shoot or leave the snakes alone. I already knew that.
So, l loaded my 22 pistol with rat shot, headed back to the barn and turned the horses out. I decided to just scare the snakes.
I shot around them 5 times before they realized what was going on. I was right, one fell down. I went out the door. The snake went along the wall. The other snake stayed up there. I shot around it a few more times. Nothing, not going anywhere.
So, I went back to the house, and fixed me a glass of sweet tea.
I went back out there, the snakes were gone!! Thank goodness.
Some days, it is not dull around here. I hope I never see that again. One snake is bad enough but two snakes at the same time.
It’s time to relax, for a little while. Enjoy your day.
Thanks for listening!
